Did you know that the dining room table affords incredible learning opportunities with a little deliberate attention? In fact, just this week, the Lord has given me two distinct opportunities to see the fruits of this practice in our home.
First example:
When I served my children tomato soup, they learned that you can feed 11 people with only one tomato.
Second example:
Yesterday I let my children count every dish on the table, and then divide it by 11. This resulted in five peas, one eight chicken breast and a half potato each.
I could give more examples on learning opportunities. You probably could too. After all, the key components in a real education are mastered at the family table.
Teach a child how to dine like a human being and you have come half-way in her education.
